Version 2.30.0

Release date: December, 2023

New Features and Enhancements

[CC1354P]

  • New RF settings: Narrowband, 9.6 kbps, 2-GFSK, 17.1 kHz RX Bandwith (SRFSTUDIO-3510)

[CC13x4/CC26x4]

  • Updated RF settings for IEEE 802.15.4 10 dBm (SRFSTUDIO-3515)

[CC2674R]

  • Updated Front-end settings for IEEE 802.15.4, LP_CC2674R10_RGZ (7x7): Differential mode and Internal bias. RSSI offset +1 dBm (SRFSTUDIO-3513)

Bug fixes

[CC13x4]

  • Fixed issue with SUN O-QPSK PHY when changing between Packet TX/RX. This action failed with a “Command Handler Error!” (SRFSTUDIO-3522)
  • Fixed issue with Packet TX/RX test with the SUN O-QPSK PHY. The packet format did not match the RF commands (SRFSTUDIO-3523)

Known issues

  • [CC13x4] Not possible to enable high PA for OOK settings (SRFSTUDIO-3086).
  • [CC13x2R7, CC26x2R7] The validation rules for the RX_BW parameter has been disabled (SRFSTUDIO-3086).
  • [CC13xx, CC26xx] The PDU Payload length for BLE 5 is limited to 37 bytes. The correct value would be 251 (SRFSTUDIO-2579).
  • [CC1352P] Creating a custom target board with support for for the integrated high-power amplifier is not fully supported. It will not be possible to create a board that combines both the standard-power and high-power values. The use of the checkbox to enable/disable high-power amplifier will not have any effect.
  • [CC1350] OOK setting does not work on LAUNCHXL-CC1350 targets with PCB version older than 1.3 due to a hardware issue causing unstable output frequency.
  • [CC13x2R] The 14 dBm output power in proprietary mode requires CCFG_FORCE_VDDR_HH = 1 in ccfg.c, which is not supported out-of-the-box in SimpleLink CC13x2 SDK version 1.00.00. The measured output value using the SDK compared with SmartRF Studio may therefore be a bit lower.
  • [CC13xx, CC26xx] Unplugging a LaunchPad from the USB bus while SmartRF Studio Packet RX is active causes the Device Control Panel to stop responding (SRFSTUDIO-1716).
  • [CC1350] With the 5 kbps SLR setting, the Continuous RX function does not work properly. The problem can be seen from the RSSI plots. At a certain point the RSSI value is always the same (SRFSTUDIO-1456).
  • [CC13xx, CC26xx] Code Export: The comments of each register override does not exist if the settings are loaded from a SmartRF Studio configuration file (Menu option: “Open cfg”) (SRFSTUDIO-1693).
  • [CC13xx, CC26xx] The vertical scroll bar in pop-up dialogs does not work properly. An attempt to click on the scroll bar makes the dialog to disappear. The workaround is to use the scroll wheel on the mouse. The scroll bar will normally only be seen with scaling other than 100% (SRFSTUDIO-1995)
  • [CC13xx, CC26xx] The fixed packet length field is not validated properly. Typing in a large value may cause the Device Control Panel to crash. The workaround is to not input too large values in the length field (SRFSTUDIO-2008).
  • [CC2640R2F] Code Export proprietary mode: The exported code is not compatible with the code examples from CC2640R2F SDK v2.40.00. The radio setup command in the code examples is different from the one exported by SmartRF Studio. The workaround is to modify the CC2640R2F SDK code examples to use the radio setup command exported by SmartRF Studio (EZLINKPROP-501).
  • GUI does not scale correctly on Windows 7 machines with screen scaling other than 100%.
  • [CC26x0/CC13x0] The Cap-array tuning in SmartRF Studio is producing a frequency offset which is different compared to setting the Cap-array delta manually in CCFG (SRFSTUDIO-2184).
  • [SCRIPT] The Perl extension module is built and tested for Windows 7 only.

Bug fixes

  • [CC2651R3SIPA] Device description updated (SRFSTUDIO-3309).
  • [CC2652RB] Fixed issue to start Device Control Panel for a connected CC2652RB device. (SRFSTUDIO-3333).

Known issues

  • [CC2652PSIP] Front end configuration for the CC2652PSIP Launchpad updated to “Internal Bias”. The change has an impact on the RSSI value shown in RX (SRFSTUDIO-3097).

Known issues

  • [CC2651P3] The current Output TX power settings are limited to 10 dBm. The Launchpad “LP_CC2651P3” is designed for 20 dBm but the required settings did not make it for this release.

  • [CC1352P] The RSSI value that is shown in Packet RX for IEEE 802.15.4 will be lower (~2-4dBm) than expected because of an issue with the control signals of the RF switch that is configured by SmartRF Studio for this device (SRFSTUDIO-2319).

Bug fixes

  • [CC13xx] Fixed issue with display of packet data in packet RX when fixed packet length and address filtering is used. The address value was not correct (SRFSTUDIO-1732).
  • [CC13x2] Fixed application crash when the override editor was used to modify a ADI_2HALFREG_OVERRIDE override type (SRFSTUDIO-2279).
  • [STARTW] Fixed issue where device icon text sometimes was shown outside the icon boundaries (SRFSTUDIO-2259).
  • [STARTW] Several dialog classes updated to remove the help button from the window title. The button was not active and had no meaning (SRFSTUDIO-1453).
  • [CC26x2/CC13x2] Fixed issue with Cap-array tuning in SmartRF Studio producing a frequency offset which is different when comparing to setting the Cap-array delta manually in CCFG (SRFSTUDIO-2184).
  • [CC26xx/CC13xx] Fixed issue with display of BLE packets in text format in Packet RX (SRFSTUDIO-1737).
  • [CC1352P] Fixed issue with loading of config file for CC1352P with the option to use High TX output power (SRFSTUDIO-2290).

  • [CC13x2R/P] The bias mode configuration for the BLE and IEEE 802.15.4 typical settings does not match the RF design used for revision B of the LAUNCHXL-CC1352R1 and LAUNCHXL-CC1352Px boards. The boards are designed with an external bias circuit for the Low-Noise Amplifier (LNA) in RX. The bias setting will have an impact on the sensitivity of the RF device. SmartRF Studio will set the bias mode to “internal bias” while it should have been “external bias”. To change the bias mode the value of the bias mode field in the radio setup command must be changed: .config.biasMode = 1
  • <br>
  • <br>
  • The following radio setup commands are used:
  • CC1352R
    • BLE: CMD_BLE5_RADIO_SETUP.config.biasMode

Bug fixes

  • [CC13xx, CC26xx] Validation of the fixed packet length field updated. An invalid number could cause the application to be sluggish or in worst case to crash (SRFSTUDIO-2008).
  • [CC1352P] The name of the RF Command “CMD_RADIO_SETUP” renamed to “CMD_RADIO_SETUP_PA”. This could only be seen when selecting “show all” Commands (SRFSTUDIO-2080).
  • [CC13xx, CC26xx] Fixed issue with the “show all” check-box on top of the Command View. The problem could be seen when the check-box was checked to show all the RF Commands. When another RF Setting was selected, the number of RF commands would be reduced to the actually used ones while the check-box would remain checked (SRFSTUDIO-2079).
  • [CC13xx, CC26xx] The “log” options under the settings menu removed. It has never been implemented for the CC13xx/26xx devices. (SRFSTUDIO-1810).
