Click on the links in the table below to download.TI has partnered with Mitto Systems Limited to bring you a new and fully supported open source compiler. This free MSP430 GCC compiler has no code size limit.
This compiler can be used as a standalone or can be integrated in Code Composer Studio.
The MSP430-GCC 7.3.0.9 compiler beta release based on GCC compiler to 7.3.0 is the first release as maintained by Mitto Systems Limited.

Changes in This Release
- Updates to GCC compiler
- Improved documentation in the source-patches package, and added an example build script.
- Added 64-bit Windows package.
- Updated GDB to version 8.1 from 7.11, which has added new features and bug

The path specified by the MSP430_GCC_INCLUDE_DIR environment variable, and the "devices" directory in "$TOOLCHAIN_ROOT/msp430-elf/include/"
are now also searched for devices.csv, header files and linker scripts. - Interrupt functions can now be declared as static and will not be optimized out.
- MSP430-specific attributes can now be specified using "__ATTRIBUTENAME__" and "ATTRIBUTENAME" syntax interchangeably.
Previously, bogus warnings and undesirable behaviour could occur when using the "__ATTRIBUTENAME__" syntax. - Added new warnings when the "noinit" and "persistent" attributes are misused.

Bugfixes
- MSP430 GCC compiler
- Fixed a segmentation fault occurring when using the binutils BFD library to open a BFD for update.
- MSP430 support files
- Fixed another issue with .tinyram sections
- MSPDebugStack
- Fixed an firmware update issue which could prevent the FET from being detected as CDC after a core update
Known limitations
- The msp430-elf-gdb cannot program images that contain data in high-memory properly.
- The download speed on MSP430 Flash devices is very slow.
- The GDB Agent is not able to connect to MSP430L092 target devices.
- The GDB Agent is not able to connect to RF430FRL15xH target devices.
