Logging

Logging Information

Automatic Logging

Automatic logging functionality exists for the waveform information contained in the Configuration, Waveforms, Debug Waveforms, and ADC Capture tabs.

This option can be enabled by clicking the Options menu at the top, then selecting Logging, and enabling “Automatically Log Data”.

Enable Automatic Logging

Once this option is selected, incoming data will automatically be divided into files in four automatically-created folders. The location for these folders will default to a USS directory created in your home folder upon installation, at ~home/USS_VERSION/USSWorkspace/USS_Project/logs.

Log Locations

The location of these four folders can be modified by disabling logging, choosing a new location in the menu under Options → Logging, then reenabling Automatic Logging.

When automatic logging is enabled, all incoming Configuration, Waveform/Debug Plot, and single ADC capture information will be appended to timestamped log files in these folders.

Error Logging

USS Design Center maintains an error log in the above-described home directory, at ~home/USS_VERSION/USS.log.

This log can be helpful for viewing continuous ADC capture HID drop rates or other types of runtime errors.

Alternative

By default, automatic logging is disabled. With automatic logging disabled, the user can save these logs by using the corresponding “Save Waveforms” or “Save Capture” buttons on the Waveform graphs and ADC capture graphs. Incoming configuration command data can only be logged via Automatic Logging.
