Introduction

Z-Stack 3.10 is a plugin for the SimpleLink CC26x2 SDK, which contains the supported software for the CC26X2R1. Z-Stack is based on ZigBee® which is based on the IEEE™ 802.15.4 specification with the added benefit of running on top of TI-RTOS. Please refer to the Z-Stack Overview section for more information about the Z-Stack implementation. The SimpleLink™ CC26x2R1 SDK supports a Zigbee solution, delivered as plugin, which runs on the SimpleLink MCU framework (TI-RTOS, CCS / CCS Cloud). The Zigbee plugin contains everything needed for a Zigbee compliant solution, including tools, application examples, documentation, and source code. It also includes a Zigbee Pro compliant Zigbee stack, as well as Green Power device and sink support. Example applications include door lock, light, switch, temperature sensor and thermostat. Sample applications are zigbee certification-ready.

The Z-Stack plugin also includes support for Zigbee Network Processor configuration, which can be used in two chip architectures where the host implements the Cluster Library and the Zigbee applications.

Zigbee is a standards-based technology for remote monitoring, control and sensor network applications. The standard was created to address the need for a cost-effective, standards-based wireless networking solution that supports low data-rates, low-power consumption, security, and reliability. With its support of self-healing mesh networking, Zigbee is a decentralized network topology very similar to the Internet. It allows nodes to find new routes throughout the network if one route fails, making it a robust wireless solution.

A technology specifically targeted for wireless sensor networks, Zigbee can be used in any monitoring and control application that requires a wireless link. The primary target markets are: - Home, building and industrial automation - Smart wireless lighting control - Home control and security - Medical and patient monitoring - Logistics and asset tracking - Sensor networks and active RFID - Advanced metering amd smart energy - Commercial building automation - Energy harvesting
