Release Notes - SimpleLink Wi-Fi CC3220 service pack
Table of Contents
Introduction
The SimpleLink™ Wi-Fi® CC3220 device is a single-chip microcontroller (MCU) with built-in Wi-Fi connectivity, created for the Internet of Things (IoT). The CC3220 device is a wireless MCU that integrates a high-performance ARM® Cortex®-M4 MCU, allowing customers to develop an entire application with a single IC.
Content and Documentation
This release include the ServicePack binary image to be programmed into CC3120/CC3220 devices. ServicePack must be applied both in production and development stage of the CC3120/CC3220 devices

What’s New
- Pass bonjour test version 1.5
- Support enterprise connection with 4096bits RSA key
- Support file signing with SHA-256 including mcu image file through OTA or SimpleLink host driver API - Uniflash is not supported
Fixed IOP issue - Some AP vendors learn the power save mode of the CC32xx from managment frames sent to the AP
Upgrade and Compatibility Information
The ServicePack can be programmed using UniFlash utility. Latest UniFlash utility can be downloaded from https://www.ti.com/tool/UniFlash.
The ServicePack can also be flushed using host driver API’s or OTA application (please refer for the SimpleLink CC32xx SDK for more information)
Dependencies
This release requires the following software components and tools:
- UniFlash latest version - Download page.
- The ServicePack is bounded to host driver 3.0.1.55

Fixed Issues
ID | Summary |
---|---|
SL_WIFI_R2-1555 | Pass Bonjour tests version 1.5 |
SL_WIFI_R2-1553 | Internal http server may corrupt external host sockets cause host driver a fatal abort |
Known Issues
ID | Summary |
---|---|
SL_WIFI_R2-1552 | When trying to retrieve the DTIM period and the STA is disconnected from the AP, no error returned to host |
SL_WIFI_R2-1495 | Smart Config WEP with key set as ascii is not working (only hex) |
SL_WIFI_R2-1446 | RX filter : createfilter functionality does not work as excepted |
SL_WIFI_R2-1405 | GetSockOpt RCVBUF return wrong value |
GENTWOARCH-520 | Setting connection policy with system persistent configuration disabled fails with unknown error code (-30964) |
GENTWOARCH-518 | mDNS: NetAppDnsGetHostByService does not return service name, can be retrived from NetAppGetServiceList. |
GENTWOARCH-119 | RX filtering promiscuous mode: filter for IP header protocol field doesn't always work |
GENTWOARCH-112 | Legacy Rx statistics stop in AP role leaves the HW filters open for managment frames |
GENTWOARCH-108 | Consecutive calls to sl_WlanGetNetworkList in AP mode might cause back to back scans |
GENTWOARCH-104 | DHCP Server - Might assign the device's IP address to a client if it is in the address range |
GENTWOARCH-24 | When using secured content delivery, cannot program files over 65KB |
Versioning
This product’s version follows a version format, M.mm.pp.bb, where M is a single digit Major number, mm is 2 digit minor number, pp should be zero indicating official version and b is an unrestricted set of digits used as an incremented build counter.
