This reference design is a 1.1kW, high-density, 48V to 12V open-loop bus converter. This provides a reference for a power brick module in standard eighth brick footprint. The design achieves 97.7% efficiency and is implemented with TI's high-performance gallium nitride (GaN) switches, enabling fast nominal switching frequency of 1MHz.
An integrated printed wiring board (PWB) transformer is utilized to minimize size and maximize efficiency. This design achieves power density of 1300 W/in³.
The control is implemented with a C2000™ TMS320F2800157 real-time MCU in a 32-pin QFN package.
